Science behind Platelet Rich Plasma
Platelet Rich plasma (PRP)has been used for years in Medicine, Surgery and Dentistry to improve skin, bone and cartilage tissue healing. PRP carries a high concentration of thrombocytes, that contain more than 1000 different active proteins, including different types of growth factor, immune system messengers and various enzymes. They participate in cell renewal, development of new vessels and collagen/elastin remodeling and as a result they improve wound healing and tissue regeneration.
Skin aging is accompanied by the decreased production of cells and structural components such as collagen and elastin, which are required to provide elasticity and hydration to the skin. Hyaluronic acid content is also decreased with aging. This process results in thinner and drier skin, wrinkle formation, the loss of elasticity and a rough skin texture.

A lot of research has shown that the decrease in growth factor release is primarily responsible for this aging process. By delivering a high concentration of platelets carrying this active substance into the skin we can induce renewal process in the skin cells. Although Growth Factors can be delivered with topical creams, the most efficient way is to implant it into the middle skin layer via injection. Once those platelets reach human tissues they become activated and start releasing the growth factors. However, an additional benefit from PRP is that other active proteins act as a scaffold for new cells and structural components to promote repair of the aged skin.
A clinical study has shown that the PRP treatment improved skin condition, as well as increased skin thickness, enhanced collagen content and reduced pigmentation. In addition, the texture and pores were all decreased in comparison to the skin prior to treatment.
An important step in PRP administration is Platelet extraction. Also called thrombocytes, they are very fragile cells and appropriate preparation is a key for success. WorldPRP is an advanced system that preserves the most platelets for a pure and unique PRP.
The platelet formula is delivered into the skin with a microneedling technique also known as percutaneous collagen induction. The procedure creates multiple needle pricks and, as result, initiates the natural response to microscopic wounds such as growth factor release and the formation of new collagen and elastin.
In our clinic we use V2 injector gun that utilizes 9-pin needle and vacuum suction. With this automated device the product is delivered with an accurate depth and dosage across the entire treatment area.
Unlike other microneedling devices, the Beauty Booster V2 injector penetrates the skin and deposites the product at the same time. This unique technology repairs the skin from a deeper level that cannot be reached with topical microneedling serums.

Frequently asked questions
When is Platelet Rich Plasma indicated?
For your personal protocol our doctor will recommend the optimal treatment for your needs. PRP can be used regularly 2-4 times a year to prevent or reduce signs of skin aging. Additionally, you can utilize this treatment on special occasions, such as after prolonged sun exposure or prior to an important event when you want to look your best.
Depending on your skin condition and to achieve an optimal result, you may be recommended to complete a 3-session protocol at a 4 week interval to extend the effects of the treatment.
What areas can be treated with PRP?
The procedure can be used to improve the quality of your skin in any area, however, the main benefit is to treat skin exposed to photoaging such as the face, neck, décolleté, and hands. PRP is also used to treat hair loss, acne scars and stretchmarks.
What happens during the treatment?
Skin aging is accompanied by a decrease in the production of cells and structural components such as collagen and elastin, that are required to provide elasticity and hydration to the skin. Hyaluronic acid content also decreases with aging. This process results in thinner and drier skin, wrinkle formation, the loss of elasticity, and rough skin texture.
Prior to the injections, a topical numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area for 30 min to improve your comfort during the session. The microneedling treatment itself will take about 30-45 min depending on which areas you would like to treat. After the treatment, you will receive a mask that will help to calm and heal your skin.
How long is the recovery after the procedure?
Majority of patients will see only small papules and tiny spots at the injection site that usually disappear by the next day. Some patients may experience a bit of swelling and redness, and tiny dot-like bruises that are more common in the under eye area. The injection is very superficial and does not penetrate any of the blood vessels that are located under the skin. However, if you have a lot of spider veins this may increase the risk of bruises because those tiny blood vessels come to the skin surface, making them easier to penetrate.
For the first few days you skin may look a bit "tired" while the healing and rejuvenation process is initiated. Your may notice small areas of scabbing ("sand-paper") 3-5 days after the treatment. Don't use any harsh scrubs or peeling agents at that point. Gentle face wash and moisturizing cream are recommended for the first 2 weeks in order to create optimal conditions for skin healing.
